Canterbury

The region I call home is my largest photography gallery for New Zealand. It includes amazing areas such as Kaikoura, Arthurs and Lewis Pass and the Ashburton Lakes. This area is so vast I have split out the Mackenzie region including Aoraki Mt Cook below.  Canterbury’s diverse landscapes range from the urban charm of Christchurch to the breathtaking Southern Alps. This region boasts picturesque farmlands, stunning lakes, magnificent mountain views, vast coastal areas with abundant wildlife, ideal for capturing the heart of New Zealand.

Mackenzie Country

Southland

Southland’s untouched beauty is perfect for capturing the raw and unspoiled essence of New Zealand. From rugged coastlines to pristine forests and the stunning Fiordland National Park, this region offers a breathtaking photographic experience. Within this Region are many famous walks and Stewart Island a hidden gem of wild landscapes and wildlife.

North Island

The North Island is a rich tapestry of diverse landscapes. From the lush forests and pristine beaches of Northland to the stunning beauty and beaches of the Coromandel. Moving further down the country enjoy harbor views, picturesque hills and dramatic landscapes dominated by mountains through to the rugged coastlines of Castle Point and wineries across the Island. There is no shortage of photography opportunities to be found.

Otago

Otago offers a diverse range of photographic subjects, from the vast farmlands, the famous Maniototo  region with expansive dry plains bordered by rugged mountain ranges. You will find picturesque rural scenes, including historic buildings, winding gravel roads, and rustic farmhouses. With its rugged coastline, complete with wildlife, serene lakes, vast and mountainous terrain, Otago is a photographer’s delight.

Nelson / Marlborough

 

Nelson’s sunny charm and diverse landscapes make it a perfect region for photographers. 

Marlborough is renowned for its stunning vistas and world-class wineries. With the picturesque Marlborough Sounds and vast vineyards, this region offers a unique and serene photographic experience. Then head to Nelson and Tasman to capture the golden beaches, lush national parks, and wildlife, all of which showcase the beauty of New Zealand.

New Zealand Birds 

 

New Zealand is home to a remarkable array of bird species, many of which are found nowhere else in the world. From the iconic kiwi, with its unique nocturnal habits, to the vibrant plumage of the tūī and the playful antics of the kea, photographing these birds offers a glimpse into the country’s unique avian diversity. Capture the serene beauty of the albatross gliding over coastal cliffs, or the striking silhouette of the endangered kākāpō. NZ Wildlife
